Happy Halloween

This week was full of festivities for Halloween and Eliza and James totally got into the spirit of things. Tuesday we had our ward Trunk-or-Treat at the church. Things were a bit crazy with me having to be there early to help set up and Sarah trying to get the kids ready to come down in time. We got everyone there though and Eliza had a great time going around getting candy. She dressed up as Rapunzel and she loved it. She loved getting candy in her jack-o-lantern and was so polite and nice with everyone. On Wednesday we had … Continue reading

A Rainy Week

As you may have noticed we have been getting a bit of rain this week here in Texas! It has been fun. The temperature has dropped this week and it is starting to feel like fall here. We have been enjoying the cooler weather. Friday night and Saturday were particularly crazy. We had a lot of rain on Friday. I actually left work a bit early because I was worried about the storm coming in. We got about 5 inches of rain overnight on Friday and Saturday and it rained all day Saturday. I was supposed to go with the … Continue reading

The Pumpkin Patch

The highlight of our week was going to the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm for their pumpkin patch that they do every year. We had heard great things about this place from our friends and decided we wanted to go check it out. Eliza was excited all day to go and see the animals. They had all sorts of fun things for kids to do there. We looked at the animals they had. Eliza saw the donkey and the goats and also the alpacas that they had there. She was happy about that. We didn’t get to pet them because apparently … Continue reading

Conference Week

After my crazy week last week traveling to Utah for recruiting we kind of had a normal week this week which was nice. We had FHE on Monday, scouts on Tuesday, Sarah’s family history center trip on Wednesday, clothes folding on Thursday, football on Friday and conference on Saturday and Sunday. All in all it was a good week. Eliza threw up in the middle of the night on Tuesday — actually Wednesday at 3:00 am. We were asleep and she came down to us crying and covered in vomit. She was scared and so sad. She clearly had lost … Continue reading

Jamesy Talking

Eliza has started calling James “Jamesy” this week. We’re not sure where she got that name because we have never called him that. She is so cute with him. She has been getting better and better at sharing. While she tries to share sometimes, she often will say “I had it first” and take the thing away. She has done this even to us. She has also started praying by herself. At night for her personal prayer she will say several sentences on her own. Usually thankful for things that have happened in the day. She always reminds us that … Continue reading

Sleeping away the germs

Well this is going to be a shorter one than normal because we’re all pretty exhausted around here. Eliza and James have both been a bit sick this week and we’ve been trying to get them better. They both had colds and Eliza even threw up once. James is doing much better now but is still stuffy and hates having his nose cleaned out. Eliza is sleeping a lot and we have to try hard to get her to eat. She didn’t eat very much at all for a few days this week and then started eating more yesterday after … Continue reading

Sleeping, Sneaking and Snips

The big topic of conversation around our house this week has been sleep. We’re obsessed with it — and trying to get more of it. Well at least some of us are trying to get more of it. Sometimes it seems like James is trying to stay up all day and all night. I jest, of course, but only a bit. He has not been good about sleeping through the night for the last while. He has a sixth sense that helps him know to wake up precisely when mommy gets into bed. He also likes to get up at 5:30 … Continue reading

Going to the temple

The most exciting thing that happened this week was that we got to go to the temple with our family. Our friends that we usually trade babysitting with to go to the temple had to cancel on us at the last minute to help with some family things. We decided that rather than cancel our trip this month we would just take the kids down to the temple with us. Eliza had never been down there and we wanted her to see it. One of her favorite primary songs is “I Love to See the Temple” and we wanted her … Continue reading

Something every night

We had something going on every night this week. All of them were good things and we had a good time doing them. On Monday we had our normal family home evening. It was pretty good. Eliza is getting better and better at singing. When we have family home evening she has to go get her little children’s songbook and open it up to sing. We almost always sing “I am a Child of God” or “I Love to See the Temple.” She knows those two songs pretty much by heart and will sing along with us for some of … Continue reading
